Kenneth Branagh has recently taken on the challenge of adapting Agatha Christie's famed mystery stories with 2017's Murder on the Orient Express and 2021's Death on the Nile. He's now taking on an even bigger challenge, and bringing his very own story to the big screen, reports ComingSoon.net.  

The forthcoming feature film, entitled Belfast, has been acquired by Focus Features. The coming-of-age drama will be released in 2021.

The story revolves around a young boy growing up in the capital of Northern Ireland in the 1960s.

Branagh describes what to look for in his own words, saying in a statement, "Belfast is my most personal film. It’s about coming home, a dramatic journey of excitement, emotion and humor."

In addition to the excitement of the story, he himself is excited to sign up with a new studio: "To be embraced by filmmakers and distributors of such proven imagination and talent as Focus is fantastic. We are honored to partner with Peter Kujawski and his amazing team. With the incredible support of Northern Ireland Screen also in the mix, we are very excited for the future of BELFAST in cinemas around the world in 2021."

That is exciting and we're excited for him.

To add to the excitement, casting has begun, with Dame Judi Dench, Ciaran Hinds, Jamie Dornan and Caitriona Balfe already signed on. Dornan and Balfe are set to play a working-class couple, with Dench and Hinds to portray sprightly grandparents.

It's yet to be announced who will play the young boy at the center of it all.
