Kiefer Sutherland Is Set to Portray an American President... Again!

Kiefer Sutherland took on the title role in the action mystery series Designated Survivor (2016-2019), with his character becoming the U.S. President, when everyone before him in the line of succession was killed in a blast.

That is A LOT of pressure, especially when not expected.

Speaking of pressure, Sutherland is going to portray an American President, once again.

He's set to join Anglo fan favorite Gillian Anderson (The Fall), for the forthcoming anthology drama series The First Lady, reports ComingSoon.net.

Which First Lady? Which President? Anderson will take on the role of Eleanor Roosevelt, with Sutherland stepping in as Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the U.S., entered into office in 1933.

The description for the series, via IMDB, reads: "In the East Wing of the White House, many of history's most impactful and world-changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America's charismatic, complex and dynamic first ladies."

It sounds like the women will be taking the lead, but we suspect we'll be seeing a lot of both Roosevelts.

The limited series won't just focus on the women and their lives as presidential spouses, but explore what got them there. The first season revolves around Michelle Obama, Betty Ford and Eleanor Roosevelt.

In addition to Anderson, we can look for Viola Davis as Obama and Michelle Pfeiffer as Ford.

The stories will start out during each woman's early years and follow them as they make their move to Washington D.C.

The series is in pre-production, predicted to release later this year over at Showtime.

Are you looking forward to seeing these two play a married couple on-screen?
