Liam Neeson is changing things up a bit. He's taking a break from action and going the mystery-thriller route with Marlowe, starring opposite Diane Kruger.
Marlowe will be released theatrically on December 2, but before then, its world premiere is set to close the San Sebastián Festival, which takes place in Spain, reports Deadline. Both Neeson and Kruger will be in attendance for the debut on September 24 at the Kursaal Auditorium.
The movie is based on John Banville’s 2014 novel The Black-Eyed Blonde, with William Monahan (The Departed) writing the script. The story kicks off with Marlowe being approached by an eccentric heiress (Kruger), whose ex-lover has gone missing. It’s described as looking like an “open and shut case,” but that wouldn’t make much of a movie.
It turns out, the missing lover is just the first in a chain of odd events, with Marlowe getting wrapped up with a high-profile, wealthy Hollywood family, who will go to great lengths to protect their fortune. You can also look for Jessica Lange as mother to the heiress.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Alan Cumming, Danny Huston, Ian Hart, and Colm Meaney round out the cast with Neil Jordan (The Crying Game) directing.
If it’s been a minute since seeing 1992’s The Crying Game, here’s a peek at the trailer:

We’re liking this mashup of talent. What about you!?
