Luke Evans starred as the dastardly Gaston in 2017's Beauty and the Beast, opposite Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in the title roles. We also saw Josh Gad pop up, as Gaston's bestie LeFou.

Evans and Gad will be reuniting, sans Beauty and Beast, for a prequel story, told over an eight-part series over on Disney+, reports ComingSoon.net.  It takes place prior to Belle venturing into the woods, where she finds a prince who has been cursed and turned into a fearsome furry creature. Instead, we'll learn about how Gaston and LeFou came to be unlikely friends.

In addition to Evans and Gad, the series will also star Briana Middleton. She is set to portray LeFou's step-sister.

The folks over at Disney have released a statement on what to look for, saying, "The series will follow Gaston and LeFou as they set off with LeFou’s step-sister, Tilly, after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the unlikely trio off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure."

The description goes on to say, "While the mysteries of the past are uncovered and the dangers of the present grow, old friends and new enemies reveal that this familiar kingdom harbors many secrets.”

In addition to starring, Gad will also co-write the series with Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, who both worked on Once Upon a Time. All three will act as co-showrunners.
