Matthew Macfadyen won his first Emmy award last night (September 12) for his performance as Succession's scheming executive Tom Wambsgans. It was one of several big wins for the business-focused show, which was also named outstanding drama series.
During his acceptance speech, Macfadyen thanked wife and fellow actor Keeley Hawes, who accompanied him to the awards ceremony at L.A.'s Microsoft Theater.

London-set sitcom Ted Lasso and vacation resort-based comedy-drama The White Lotus were the night's other big winners, collecting the prizes for outstanding comedy series and outstanding limited or anthology series respectively. Ted Lasso's Jason Sudeikis and Brett Goldstein took home acting trophies, as did The White Lotus' Jennifer Coolidge and Murray Bartlett.
Euphoria's Zendaya made history when she was named outstanding actress in a drama series. The 26-year-old star became the youngest ever recipient of two acting Emmys, and the first Black woman to win the outstanding actress in a drama series prize twice. Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh were also nominated in this category.
Better Call Saul's Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn were also among nominees, as were Anglophenia faves Colin Firth (The Staircase), Andrew Garfield (Under the Banner of Heaven) and Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso). The BBC has a handy list of the key winners.
