Melissa Leo Filmed Crime Thriller 'Ida Red' During Quarantine
Oscar-winning actress Melissa Leo (The Fighter) has signed on for a new role in the forthcoming crime thriller Ida Red. Not just signed on, but she's already made the movie during quarantine, starring in the title role.
According to Empire Online, the production took place in Oklahoma and followed all safety guidelines. You can look for the flick in 2021.
With that said, who's Ida "Red" Walker? She's a convicted criminal, currently serving 25 years in prison for armed robbery and has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. While she has a lot of restrictions, she's still able to manage her family business from the inside, relying on her son Wyatt Walker (Josh Hartnett) to execute directives.
The description says a job goes awry and a local detective is called in. It just so happens, the detective is Walker's brother-in-law, played by rapper-actor Slaine (he only goes by one name).
That's a lot of drama within one family.
While Red is kind of the baddie in this story, we do find ourselves cheering for her.
That's happened before, like in this write-up we did on 10 Bad Guys We Find Ourselves Rooting For, kicking off with Sherlock's Moriarty.
You can also look for Leo in the forthcoming HBO miniseries I Know This Much Is True, which is waiting for a release date.
Are you impressed by Melissa Leo's tenacity, getting the job done!?
