There’s a new series coming out, entitled My Lady Jane. It’s based on the life of British monarch Jane Grey, reports Deadline.
As the headline suggests, you can look for a number of Anglo favorites in this project. Are you ready? It is quite a long list. Here we go: you can look for Emily Bader, Edward Bluemel, Jordan Peters, Dominic Cooper, Rob Brydon, Will Keen, Anna Chancellor, and Jim Broadbent.
That's a lot of talent in one space. And, now more about the subject matter, Lady Jane herself. The story is not quite biographical, but based on YA historical fiction novels by Cynthia Hand. Gemma Burgess is adapting the novels to screen, which “imagines the rise and reign of Lady Jane Grey (Bader).”
The series kicks off with Jane’s mother selling her hand into marriage. Guildford Dudley, played by Killing Eve’s Bluemel, wins out. Jane finds him infuriatingly attractive, but she can see past the surface and that he has a secret. On top of that, there are other conspiracies afoot, like… murder.
None of this sounds good for Lady Jane Grey, but she is the heroine of her own story.
If you’d like to read up on the real story of Lady Jane Grey and why she’s referred to as The Nine Days Queen, History.com tells it from start to finish.
The eight-part series is currently filming in London and is heading to Amazon Prime once finished.
We are liking the sound of this. What about you!?
