Andrew Garfield has been popping up on the blog a lot these days. The casting news keeps rolling out, and he was just nominated for an Oscar for his performance in tick, tick… BOOM!

He could sit back and enjoy the moment, but instead, he’s been hard at work.

Garfield has completed filming the forthcoming mystery series, Under the Banner of Heaven., reports Deadline. Based on Jon Krakauer’s 2003 novel, the story revolves around a detective (Garfield) investigating a double murder. It appears a churchgoing family in the area may be involved. Garfield is set to play a leader at the church, who finds himself questioning his beliefs.

The newly released trailer provides some insight, with Garfield’s character saying, “So far, what we’ve found, isn’t pointing outward.”

He expands on what he means by that, describing his findings: “The evidence points to things and to beliefs, that I have only heard whispering about.” Having to investigate his own community is not only frightening, but disheartening.

You can look for the seven-part series over at Hulu, with a premiere date still to come.
