We cannot get enough of Chiwetel Ejiofor (Locked Down), and here he is again, set to star in the forthcoming TV series The Man Who Fell to Earth.
The story is based on Walter Tevis’ 1963 sci-fi novel, which was previously adapted for the big screen in 1976, starring David Bowie.
The ten-part series revolves around an alien who arrives to Earth. The description says humanity is at a turning point, and the alien is tasked in determining the future of mankind.
That is quite a responsibility for one being…
The title refers to him as “The Man,” but in the newly released trailer we see him in his alien form:
Man or alien, he speaks with honesty, asking his scientist-friend (Naomie Harris), “Can. You. Help. Me?”
It seems he's meant to experience human suffering to help with his decision-making, and it's not just the fate of our world, but also the fate of his that rides on his mission.
In addition to Ejiofor and Harris, you can also look for Anglo favorite Bill Nighy as a fellow alien.
The series is set to premiere on April 24 over at Showtime.
Are you getting the itch to go back and watch the 1976 adaptation?
