We’re always game for a whodunit. Christian Bale is teaming up (again) with writer-director David O. Russell for the feature film Amsterdam, reports ComingSoon.net. The two previously collaborated on 2013’s American Hustle and 2010’s The Fighter.
In regards to the genre, it’s fun to try and figure out who the killer is before the movie comes to an end. In the newly released trailer, Bale’s character gives us a hint… it’s not him.
Bale portrays a man named Burt. He and his two friends, played by Margot Robbie and John David Washington, witness a murder. Just being at the scene of the crime makes them suspects, but Burt denies it, saying, “A man was killed. The police think we did it. We need to clear our names.”
The trailer doesn’t necessarily lead us to who did it, but it does help roll out the story:
Amsterdam is set during the 1930s and “weaves historical fact with fiction.”
While Bale, Robbie and Washington are more than enough star power, you can also look for Robert De Niro, Michael Shannon, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Rami Malek.
Okay, if it wasn’t Burt et al., then… who was it? Any guesses!?
