New Trailer: Drew Barrymore Takes on Dual Role in 'The Stand-In'

Drew Barrymore is set to star in the forthcoming feature comedy The Stand-In, written by Fresh Meat creator Sam Bain and directed by Jamie Babbit (Silicone Valley).
And, she's a bit of a mess. Not Barrymore herself, but her character.
Barrymore stars as a comedic actress named Candy Black, whose heart just isn't in it anymore. When she's sentenced to 90 days in rehab, she just doesn't have the heart to do that, either. So, she calls on her stand-in (also played by Barrymore) to take her place at the treatment center.
Technically, a stand-in is just for filming, so the actress can take a break and save energy. But, in this case, the stand-in is up for about almost anything.
She even starts doing chat show interviews post-rehab, as if she's the actress, swinging by BBC America's very own The Graham Norton Show to deliver an apology for her bad behavior.
The stand-in sort of hits a wall, though, when asked to act. She can't quite nail the line.
You can see what we mean by that in the below:
This may come across as a cautionary tale, don't give your work away.
The trailer is quite long and shows a lot of what happens in the movie, but luckily, it doesn't reveal the ending.
It leaves us wondering, is Candy Black going to get it together enough to fight for what she has left?
We'll find out the answer on December 11 when The Stand-In premieres.
