New Trailer: Elizabeth Banks Stars in Sci-Fi Thriller 'Brightburn'

Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games) stars in the forthcoming film Brightburn, as a woman who discovers an alien child and raises him as her own. The official trailer premiered over the weekend at Comic-Con Brazil.

At first glance, the premise sounds a little Superman-ish: a baby from another world crash-lands on Earth. A young married couple takes him into their home. But, this baby doesn't grow up to be... so good.

Banks' character knows something's up with her tween son (Jackson A. Dunn), but like any mom, she wants to protect him.

After watching the trailer, we get the sense that he might be a mini villain in the making vs. a hero-to-be. We hear Banks' say, "Whatever you've done, I know there is good inside you."

Ack! What could he have done!?

Nonetheless, his mother continues to be his champion, "You are special. You came here for a reason." The dad... not so much. He (The Office star David Denman) on the other hand, says, "He may look like us. He's not like us."

Director James Gunn acts as producer on Brightburn. You can look for the sci-fi thriller in theaters on May 27, 2019.

Other announcements coming out of this year's Comic-Con Brazil include footage for Spider-Man: Far from Home, the poster for X-Men spinoff, Dark Phoenix and a sneak peek of Godzilla: King of Monsters (just to name a few).
