We first saw Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi in 1999’s Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. He reprised the role in later installments, including 2002’s Attack of the Clones and 2005’s Revenge of the Sith.
Fast-forward to now, over twenty years since first stepping into the role, and McGregor is back as the iconic character. You can look for the series, aptly named Obi-Wan Kenobi, premiering on May 25.
When we last saw him, Kenobi had a falling-out with his Jedi protégé Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side. The series picks up ten years later, revealing the aftereffects.
The recently released trailer starts off with Kenobi, saying with sorrow, “The fight is done. We lost.”
The Jedi are being hunted, with their compassion making them vulnerable, as it “leaves a trail.”
The series also promises the return of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader, with a first look still to come.
In true Star Wars fashion, this trailer is a nice introduction, but there's still a lot left unknown.
You can look for the premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi over at Disney+ on May 25.
