Florence Pugh and Harry Styles have teamed up for the forthcoming feature film Don’t Worry Darling, directed by Olivia Wilde. There is a lot going on in this story, which the newly released trailer helps flesh out.
At first glance, we see Pugh and Styles as a happily married couple, who can’t keep their hands off of each other. The movie is set during the 1950s where the husbands go to work and the wives stay home to keep the house tidy. And, they are asked to call on discretion and keep secrets.

But, even the wives don’t know what they’re protecting their husbands from.
That’s where the trailer comes in. Pugh’s character, Alice, notices something is not right. But, she doesn’t keep it to herself, as directed. Instead, she brings it up at a dinner party. Her husband’s boss (Chris Pine) is there, saying, “I’m curious to hear where she’s going with this.”

Now that she’s expressed her concerns publicly, she’s being gaslit by her community. We hear Alice saying, “Everyone is acting like I’m crazy. And I’m not crazy.” Styles plays the handsome, doting husband, who goes along with things. We don’t even hear him speak until the end of the clip, when chastising his wife, declaring, “Our life together. We could lose this.”
It's not clear if he knows what’s going on or if his commitment is based on blind faith.
Don’t Worry Darling is set to release on September 23.
There are a number of Qs floating around. Do you have any theories?
