AMC+ has a new series coming out, the period drama The North Water, premiering on July 15, with a new episode every Thursday.

The series is topped-up with a number of familiar faces, including Jack O'Connell and Colin Farrell taking the leads. The series is based on Ian McGuire's 2016 novel by the same name and is set in Hull, England during the late 1850s.

In the newly released trailer, we see Farrell's character, Henry Drax, working on a whaling ship as a harpooner. We hear him say in a voiceover, "It is a grave mistake to think too much."

We then meet O'Connell as Patrick Summer, who is a surgeon. We shall say, it takes a lot of thinking to become an M.D.

There is discourse early on, with Drax asking the newcomer why he wanted to become a doctor, with Summer responding, "Because I wished to advance from my humble origins." Drax makes a dig at him, saying, "Yet, here you are, being a whaler. I wonder what has happened to those ambitions."

Ooh, those are some fightin' words. You can see how things play out in the below trailer:

While the two may have different goals in life, and ways to go about things, they are on this ship together, and it's a matter of survival.

One might think, navigating the dangerous terrain of the Arctic is their biggest problem, but there seems to be unrest amongst the crew.

The official description provides a hint, reading: "As the true purpose of the expedition becomes clear, confrontation between the two men erupts, taking them on a journey far from solid ground and way beyond the safe moorings of civilization."

It sounds like there is more to this journey than hunting and we are more than intrigued to find out what that "true purpose" is.

In addition to O'Connell and Farell, you can also look for Stephen Graham (Line of Duty) and Tom Courtenay (King of Thieves).

The North Water premieres on July 25 via AMC+ with a new episode premiering every Thursday through August 12.

We find ourselves cheering for both men. Who do you hope comes out on top?
