Keeley Hawes has been popping up on the blog a lot lately. She’s set to star in the forthcoming AMC series Orphan Black: Echoes, which has begun filming. And now here she is again, starring in the BBC One miniseries Crossfire, premiering in the U.S. via BritBox on November 15.
The story is set at a hotel in the Canary Islands, where a gunman holds the guests hostage. The official synopsis reads: “Crossfire is a high-stake, thrilling drama about a vacation gone wrong when a group of revengeful gunmen take a hotel hostage and guests are forced to make monumental life or death decisions with enormous consequences.”
The first look trailer just released today, and it is jam-packed with action and emotion:
The series comes from Louise Doughty, author of Apple Tree Yard, making this her screenwriting debut.
Doughty released a statement about the project, saying, “This is a drama about a group of ordinary people caught up in an extraordinary event, a gun attack on the hotel where they are staying.”
She also expands on what to look for, in terms of plot: “In extremity, each character is faced with a set of dilemmas: and at the heart of it is Jo (Hawes), who booked the holiday and unknowingly put her family and friends and herself at risk.”
