We were first introduced to Rebecca Hall in 2008’s Vicky Christina Barcelona, opposite Scarlett Johansson and Javier Bardem. She has a new role lined up, set to star in the forthcoming feature film Resurrection, reports ComingSoon.net.
Hall portrays a woman named Maggie. And, it appears Maggie has a secret. In the new trailer, we hear her reading a letter to her daughter, saying, “Abbie, if you’re watching this, it means something went wrong. I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you. I thought I could make it okay.”

When she sees an unidentified man (Tim Roth) at a business function, she starts hyperventilating. Later in the clip, the two have an exchange at a diner, with him saying it’s been 22 years since they’ve seen each other. It’s not clear what happened, but something definitely happened.
The synopsis helps map out the story to come: “In the film, Margaret leads a successful and orderly life, perfectly balancing the demands of her busy career and single parenthood to her fiercely independent daughter Abbie. Everything is under control. But that careful balance is upended when an unwelcome shadow from her past, David returns, carrying with him the horrors of Margaret’s past. Battling her rising fear, Margaret must confront the monster she’s evaded for two decades who has come to conclude their unfinished business.”
It does make us wonder, how old is Abbie? If she’s 22 or 23 years old, that may answer the disturbingly looming question. Even if we can figure out what the “secret” is, we still don’t know the outcome. This one definitely has us hooked.
You can look for Resurrection in theaters on August 5, followed by a release via Shudder in November.
