New Trailer: Tom Hughes Stars as Writer Robert Graves in ‘The Laureate’
We just mentioned Tom Hughes in our Winter Movie Preview roundup, with him starring in the forthcoming horror-thriller Shepherd.
He’s also set to star in the drama The Laureate, based on the life of Robert Graves. As the title suggests, Graves was considered for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962, which ultimately went to John Steinbeck.
In the newly released trailer, we see him working away, sitting behind a typewriter, but the story is more about the relationship with his wife and their house guest.
Laura Haddock portrays his spouse, Nancy Nicholson, who we hear say, “You once asked me to describe our love. If you invite a serpent into your home, perhaps you shouldn’t be surprised when it bites you.”
That does not sound good for the one bitten, nor the serpent (as it might get squashed).
Dianna Agron will be taking on the role of said serpent, figuratively of course.
The “serpent” has a name, Laura Riding, and she is an aspiring American writer. The couple invite her to stay with them in their home and collaborate on a project with Graves.
The above clip starts off about work, but then it transitions into a love triangle. And, goes one step further, introducing a fourth player into this game of love, Geoffrey Phibbs (Fra Fee).
As the expression goes, there is no fairness in love and work (we adapted it a bit).
There’s no premiere date just yet, but we are on the edge of our seat, ready for this one to release.
Do you love a good love story (even if it takes a turn)?
