Editor's Note: The Hive is Orphan Black's weekly Writers' Room blog. Each week, someone intimately involved with that week's production will take you behind the scenes. But before the season even gets started, creators Graeme Manson and John Fawcett wanted to say hello.

Welcome back, #CloneClub!

Holy doodle. It's hard to believe we're sitting down to a new season of Orphan Black, isn't it? Season 4, go figure! And wow, new season — new night. We're stepping off our old Saturday night timeslot and into the ring for the Thursday night heavyweight bouts. It's an honor. We're ready, we're loose, and our show is game.

We knew by the end of last season that we wanted to go "back to the beginning" this year. And in May — which seems forever ago now — creators and writers began the long climb up the mountain, or, more aptly, the long slide down the rabbit hole. We took it back to that fateful moment on the train platform between Sarah and Beth that kicked off the series. Back to our core sisterhood of Cosima, Alison, Sarah, and the black sheep, Helena. Back too, to Rachel, Sarah's true nemesis. And to "Neolution,” the secretive scientific cult lurking behind everything since Season 1.

For sure, the OB crew had The Force this year, marshaling behind Tatiana and dealing with the insane scheduling it takes to make a clone show. The Technodolly — that nifty device that makes it all possible — got a real work-out this season. All the tech setup proved remarkably gremlin-free, so there's plenty of signature "Tat vs. Tat" scenes coming for your enjoyment. (Though they still work best when you don't even notice them, don't they?). Ari Millen, fresh off his CSA win for Best Actor in a TV drama will be back — but as whom? That's the question. Returning as those you know and love: Jordan Gavaris, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Kevin Hanchard, Josh Vokey, and many others. We'll be bringing you some great new cast too, sprinkled along the season, new faces to fall for or flee from. Tat, of course, kills Season 4 dead, and our team continues to marvel at her remarkable performances everyday.

As usual, we're throwing down and looking to blow minds. We can't wait to drop our premiere-bomb on you. In a season where "you have to go back to go forward," Episode 401 will rocket our clones into another weird, wonderful season. Thrills, chills, spills, and pills — buckle up, it's going to be a good one. Who knows whose ugly (or cherubic) head might rear up from the past? Some of the answers you’ve been wanting will come right out of the gate, and others you'll have to wait for. We all prefer a little tease over giving up the goods, right? So from our Orphan Black family to yours — enjoy the ride!

And on behalf of the Orphan Black family, we'd like to dedicate this season to our crew brother Rick Anglin, whose time with us passed this year. And also, with great strength and admiration in recovery, to our props master Jeff Murrin and the entire extended Murrin clan.
