Richard Ayoade is to host the BAFTA TV Awards for the second year running.

After presiding over last year's virtual BAFTA TV Awards, he'll return to present this year's studio-based ceremony. According to BAFTA, "a small number of awards presenters" will join Ayoade either in the studio or via video call.

Ayoade said self-deprecatingly in a statement on the BAFTA website: "I have been asked if, this year, I could say I am thrilled to be back as ‘host' and, reluctantly, I am willing to pretend that I am. They have assured me that as soon as the world returns to normal, they will get someone decent again."

It's also been announced that Broadchurch and Famalam actress Gbemisola Ikumelo will host this year's BAFTA Television Craft Awards. They'll take place on Monday, May 24 ahead of the Ayoade-led BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday, June 6.

"I’m enjoying how inventive the BAFTA award shows have become in this climate," Ikumelo said. "We’re making seriously tasty lemonade here and I for one am looking forward to not tripping and falling in-front of a bunch of drunk creatives!”

In the meantime, if you're an awards ceremony aficionado, you can watch the Independent Spirit Awards this Thursday at 10pm EST on AMC+. Nominees include Riz Ahmed, Carey Mulligan, and Viola Davis.
