Richard E. Grant has been announced as the host of this year's BAFTA Film Awards, which take place at London's Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, February 19.

It will be the actor's first time hosting the U.K. film industry's biggest awards show, which has previously been compèred by Stephen Fry, Joanna Lumley, and Graham Norton. However, Grant is no stranger to the ceremony, having been nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 2019 for his performance in Can You Ever Forgive Me?.

"I feel hugely privileged to be hosting the EE BAFTAs for the first time and [to have] the opportunity to celebrate the very best of the extraordinary range of this year's films," Grant said in a news release. He will be joined on the night by popular British TV presenter Alison Hammond, who will be hosting a new room at the event called the BAFTA Studio.

Meanwhile, the BAFTA Film Awards have also announced the nominees for this year's EE Rising Star Award. They are Naomie Ackie (I Wanna Dance with Somebody), Sheila Atim (The Woman King), Aimee Lou Wood (Living), Emma Mackey (Emily), and Daryl McCormack (Goodbye to You, Leo Grande).

Previous recipients of the Rising Star Award include Daniel Kaluuya, Tom Hardy, and Kristen Stewart, so it definitely comes with pedigree. You can check out our recent feature on seven roles that made us appreciate Naomie Ackie here.
