Robert Pattinson Talks About Why His Batman is Different: ‘It’s a Little Bit Out of Control’

We’re getting closer and closer to the premiere of The Batman, which hits theaters on March 4.
A first look of Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader was revealed in 2020, followed by an official trailer, and we expect there are more surprises to come out before the release.
Speaking of which, Pattinson recently discussed taking on the role of Bruce Wayne and his alter-ego Batman, with France’s Premiere magazine.
In the comics and some of the earlier film adaptations featuring the Dark Knight, he has a no-kill rule, which is carried over to The Batman.
Pattinson talks about his take on this principal, saying, “There is this rule with Batman: he must not kill. It can be interpreted in two ways. Either he only wants to inflict the appropriate punishment, or he wants to kill
"I told myself that if he spends his nights chasing criminals, it is impossible that he does not take pleasure in it. He suffers and it is a desire that overwhelms him.”
During the DC Fandome 2021 panel, he talked about how his character struggles, saying, “He doesn't have as much control over his personality, like the delineation between when he's Batman and when he's Bruce is not so clear and other kinds of iterations of it where he really knows what he's doing when he's putting on the cowl," reports ComicBook.com.
While the character may be a tortured soul, Pattinson seems to enjoy the internal conflict he’s witnessing: “And I kind of really like this idea of it's a little bit out of control. He hasn't completely defined what Batman is. I mean, he gets lost in it whenever he's putting on [Batman] every night. He's not sleeping and he's becoming this quite sort of odd creature.”
And we kind of really like the way Pattinson describes what’s going on here.
The Batman is co-written by Matt Reeves and Peter Craig, with Reeves also directing.
