We were first introduced to Sally Hawkins in 2008's Happy-Go-Lucky. Of course, she had standout roles before and after, like in the 2005 miniseries Fingersmith and in 2017's The Shape of Water.
Here she is again, taking on a new project. Hawkins is set to star opposite James Corden in the forthcoming Amazon series Mammals, reports Deadline.
At first glance, we thought it might be an animated series, based on the title, but... nope. Human beings are mammals, too. The storyline for the series has yet to be announced, but creator Jez Butterworth (Spectre) says it's about finding a lifelong partner and making it official.
In a statement, he says, "A good marriage is the most magical thing. In a world of eight billion, you’ve found the one who gets you, ignites your body and soul. Who allows you to grow and flourish. Who gives you the spark, the confidence to become you. You’re also never going to have sex with anyone else, ever, and then you’re going to die, and be dead forever."
Whoa, that started off so nice and promising, and makes one want to get married (if not already), and then it takes a grave turn.
Possibly, that's what we can look for in the six-part series, how there's a connection between two people and where it goes from there.
In addition to Hawkins and Corden, you can also look for BBC America alum Colin Morgan (Merlin) and Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Killing Eve).
Butterworth co-created Mammals with James Richardson (Britannia). If you've been enjoying the sci-fi series Made for Love, you can look forward to its director Stephanie Laing taking the helm once again for Mammals.
Hawkins has a strong resume and has worked with the best of the best, but one of her most beloved co-stars might be Paddington Bear.
Mammals is in the early stages with no start date as of yet.
Do you like the sound of this so far!?
