Saoirse Ronan and Kate Winslet to Play Love Interests in 'Ammonite'

Saoirse Ronan is everywhere these days, starring in Mary Queen of Scots, now in theaters, and just recently spotted filming the forthcoming big-screen adaptation of Little Women.

She's now teaming up with Kate Winslet for the romantic drama Ammonite, reports Deadline. The biopic revolves around paleontologist Mary Anning and her relationship with a younger woman in 1840s England.

The women develop a relationship when the younger woman (Ronan) falls ill and Anning (Winslet) steps in to take care of her, ultimately turning romantic.

It's not clear how the two initially met, and what led to Anning becoming a nursemaid, but we suppose... that's the story that is about to unfold in the film Ammonite (an Ammonite is considered to be a healing fossil).

Francis Lee (God's Own Country) will both write and direct the project, based in a U.K. coastal town, which the name of has yet to be disclosed.

Winslet is currently filming Blackbird, the story of a terminally ill woman, who brings her family together one more time before she passes.
