We just recently put a spotlight on a movie (Tollbooth) set in Wales, and now it’s time to make a visit to Scotland.
Saiorse Ronan has signed on for a new role, set to star in the forthcoming Outrun, reports ComingSoon.net.
The movie is coming from director Nora Fingscheidt, who brought us 2021's The Unforgiveable, starring Sandra Bullock.
The feature film is based on Amy Liptrot’s 2015 memoir by the same name.
Fingscheidt and Liptrot will be working together, co-writing the movie.
If you’re not familiar with the story, here is the official logline: “The film centers around Rona, a recently-out-of-rehab woman who heads for home in Scotland’s wild Orkney Islands after an absence of over a decade. There she reconnects with the dramatic landscape where she grew up. As Rona lingers in the Orkneys, she begins to piece together her childhood, memories of which merge with the more recent challenging events that have set her on the path to recovery.”
Ronan will take on the lead role as Rona, which is based on Liptrot’s own life.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Ronan star in a female-driven feature, having watched her as the lead in 2017’s Lady Bird and 2019’s Little Women.

The release date has yet to be announced with the movie being in the early stages.
