Since he began his acting career in 2001, Dominic Cooper has established himself as one of the U.K.'s most charismatic and versatile screen performers – we've even seen him belt out a few ABBA bangers! Starring in AMC's acclaimed adaptation of the Preacher comic book series definitely keeps Cooper on his toes. He plays Jesse Custer, a roguish criminal-turned-holy man who, in the words of the actor, "changes so dramatically from episode to episode." The series follows Custer, his badass ex Tulip (Ruth Negga), and volatile vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) as they embark on a mission to find God – literally. The fourth and final season begins Sunday at 9/8c on AMC; don't expect the gang to bow out quietly.

My Week with Marilyn

Michelle Williams and Sir Kenneth Branagh star as Marilyn Monroe and Sir Laurence Olivier in this charming movie about the making of 1957's The Prince and the Showgirl. An array of British thesps including Dame Judi Dench, Eddie Redmayne, and Emma Watson appear in supporting roles, but Cooper gets to show off an American accent and lashings of charisma as Monroe's photographer and business manager, Milton H. Greene. If you've never seen this movie, it's definitely worth tracking down.

Mamma Mia!

Cooper plays Sky, boyfriend of Amanda Seyfried's Sophie, in the original 2008Mamma Mia! movie; together they sing the classic Abba disco hit "Lay All Your Love on Me." He reprises his role in last year's sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, and he and Seyfried get to duet again, this time on an emotional version of weepy ballad "One of Us." No, you have something in your eye.

Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond

Cooper stars as James Bond creator Ian Fleming in this BBC America miniseries which premiered in 2014. The four-parter dramatizes the author's exciting early life doing high-stakes espionage work in the Royal Navy and enjoying some 007-style romantic liaisons along the way. It's a fun, colorful role that Cooper really rips into.

Agent Carter

Having played whipsmart inventor Howard Stark in the 2011 movie Captain America: The First Avenger, Cooper reprises the role in several episodes of this spin-off series starring Hayley Atwell. Cooper's Stark (father of Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man character Tony Stark) and Atwell's Peggy Carter make a compelling double act – not least because she's always willing to call out his more sexist and ignorant behavior!

The Escape

Cooper appears with Gemma Arterton in this underrated British film from 2017. He gives an excellent supporting performance as Mark, the suffocating and insensitive husband of Arterton's Tara, a stay-at-home mom who's slowly realizing that she's deeply unhappy in her marriage. The Escape is hardly an uplifting watch, but it offers a quietly powerful and beautifully performed glimpse of everyday oppression.

The History Boys

Like James Corden and Russell Tovey, Cooper's career breakthrough came when he was cast in Alan Bennett's award-winning stage play The History Boys. He originated the role of Dakin, a confident and somewhat manipulative student at a fictional English boys' grammar school, at London's National Theatre in 2004 – then played him again on Broadway, in Sydney, Wellington, and Hong Kong, and in the acclaimed 2016 film adaptation. He and Corden became firm friends and even shared a flat in London for several years. Roommate goals, right?
