Shonda Rhimes is known for creating popular dramas like Grey's Anatomy and Scandal. She's now turning her attention to the period genre, with her latest series set in 19th Century London, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
In the new trailer for Bridgerton, the narrator introduces herself, saying, "My name is Lady Whistledown. You do not know me and never shall but be forewarned, dear reader, I certainly know you."
While we may never see her, you may recognize her voice, being that of Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins).
And, what does Lady Whistledown have to tell everyone? She is releasing scandal sheets on a regular basis and her latest lists subjects by name. With the social season arriving, she predicts which young ladies may be successful at securing a match and... if there is a scandal, she shall uncover it and share every detail.
Yikes! We have a feeling those in Whistledown's nearby surroundings are shaking in their corsets:
In addition to Andrews, the series stars Adjoa Andoh (Doctor Who), Regé-Jean Page (For the People), Golda Rosheuvel (Luther) and Phoebe Dynevor (Dickensian).
Based on Julia Quinn's book series, you can look for Bridgerton over at Netflix on December 25.
Do you think this is going to be Rhimes' next big hit?
