Sir Anthony Hopkins, Daniel Kaluuya, and Emerald Fennell were among the winners at the BAFTA Film Awards this weekend.

Hopkins won the Best Actor prize for his performance as a man dealing with progressive memory loss in The Father, while Kaluuya was named Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Black Panther Party activist Fred Hampton in Judas and the Black Messiah.

Fennell, who served as show runner on season two of BBC America's Killing Eve, took home two prizes for her debut movie as director, Promising Young Woman: Outstanding British Film and Best Original Screenplay. During her hilarious acceptance speeches, she joked that the movie's cast and crew had agreed to work on the movie for nothing more than "a packet of crisps."

Cementing its position as the frontrunner for the upcoming Academy Awards, director Chloé Zhao's Nomadland was the big winner with four wins including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress for Frances McDormand. Minari's Youn Yuh-jung was named Best Supporting Actress and joked in her acceptance speech that this meant a lot because Brits are notoriously "snobbish."

Writer-director Remi Weekes won the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer award for his socially conscious horror movie His House, while Bukky Bakray – breakout star of British coming-of-age movie Rocks – won the Rising Star award. Bakray, 18, follows in the footsteps of previous Rising Star winners including Kaluuya, John Boyega, Tom Hardy, Kristen Stewart, and Letitia Wright.

Twelve years after his own Rising Star win, Doctor Who alum Noel Clarke received the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema accolade. He dedicated his award to "the underrepresented" and "anyone who sits at home thinking they can achieve more," adding: "This is particularly for my young Black boys and girls out there who never believed that this could happen to them."
