David Tennant and Michael Sheen have been keeping busy during quarantine, filming a TV series... from home!

This is in thanks to creator Simon Evans, who directs them in said series Staged. There are already two seasons, with the first premiering in 2020 and the second releasing this past January.

The series revolves around Tennant and Sheen playing exaggerated versions of themselves. They portray two actors who have been furloughed but continue to hustle during quarantine.

Evans recently talked to the Radio Times about a possible third series, saying, "I mean, look, let’s be honest, if there was an opportunity to write again for David and Michael, I would do it in a heartbeat. They are absolutely gorgeous. They make [my writing] 200 percent better just by showing up and reading it."

We believe in giving credit where due, and that is really sweet of him to say.

He goes on to say he wouldn't want to drag it out, though, explaining: "Yeah, of course, if there was the opportunity to do a special if the right idea came along, to make some more if the context were right, then that would be lovely. But I’ve seen enough things try to outstay their welcome, so the last thing I would want to do is to damage what I’m really proud [of]… so I wouldn’t want to risk that."

He also provides a safeguard by giving himself an out, saying, "But please don’t accuse me of being a hypocrite if there’s a series three announced in three days!"

He riffs on what the third series could be, saying, “Certainly if we were to do more Staged, it would probably have to up the ante again, because people will be expecting something now. So we’d have to surprise everybody."

“Whether or not there is one, I think I’d need a bit of time to work out what that could be.”

We'd like to think, by the time a third series is ready, possibly the surprise element will be that... quarantine is over and the fellas can actually leave their flats! But, that may be a bit of wishful thinking on our part.
