Peaky Blinders just aired its sixth and final season, premiering on BBC in the U.K. and Netflix in the U.S. But, it’s not done-done, according to series creator Steven Knight.
Knight appeared on the morning show Heart Breakfast and delivered some exciting news for fans, saying a movie is happening. The premiere date hasn’t been confirmed, but he has begun writing the script and predicts production will begin within 18 months, reports Radio Times.
When talking about the matter, Knight said, "I can tell you that there's going to be a film, a feature film... [That's confirmed] by me, right now."
He went on to talk about location plans: "We’re going to shoot it at the studios in Digbeth, and on location in Digbeth in Birmingham. Digbeth and Small Heath is where the Peaky Blinders actually roamed. So it's like Peaky’s coming home, basically."
That is such a nice way of putting it. Well, he is a writer, so he is good with his words.
Knight suggests there will be returning cast members and some new faces, but he didn’t name names, which makes sense as not to overpromise.
He seems to have the viewers in mind, though, saying, "I'm just really looking forward to having a Peaky event where people can watch it communally. I mean, the social media community is so strong and people talk to each other. But to actually be together physically will be really interesting."
We are already picturing an Anglo field trip to the cinema.
Are you caught up on Peaky Blinders so far!?
