Vanessa Kirby Is Set to Star in Survival Thriller 'Suddenly'

The Crown star Vanessa Kirby is one to watch.  In addition to starring in action flicks like 2019's Hobbs & Shaw opposite Jason Statham, she's now teaming up with A-lister Jake Gyllenhaal for the forthcoming feature film Suddenly, reports Deadline.

Based on Isabelle Autissier’s French-language 2015 novel Soudain Seuls (Suddenly Alone), the story revolves around a couple who set out to travel the world. When visiting an island in the South Atlantic, they find themselves stranded (suddenly alone).

According to the novel's description, their only companions are penguins, sea lions, elephant seals and... rats.

They struggle to survive, fighting off hunger and exhaustion. All the while, working to figure out how to get back to civilization.

It's referred to as a modern Robinson Crusoe story... except, told through the lens of a couple.

Writer-director Thomas Bidegain released a statement on the project, saying, “With Suddenly, I wanted to analyze the deep dynamics of a relationship stripped of all the artifices of the modern world, when facing life and death situations in a wondrous  but hostile environment. Jake and Vanessa are a dream pairing who elevate the film to an entirely new dimension and are dream partners for making the film, along with our friends at StudioCanal.”

This isn't the only thriller Kirby is working on, we can also look for her in Mission Impossible: 7 and Mission Impossible: 8 as White Widow. She's currently filming the MI franchise, with release dates in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

There's no start date for Suddenly, just yet, but you can get to know Kirby a bit more with this write-up.
