The first trailer for Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tick, Tick... Boom! has premiered, and it gives us a glimpse of Andrew Garfield's singing voice.

Garfield sings about bohemian living at the start of the trailer for the musical movie, which is based on Jonathan Larson's semi-autobiographical stage musical of the same name. Miranda makes his feature directorial debut with the adaptation, which has a script by Dear Evan Hansen's Steven Levenson.

In the movie, Garfield stars as Larson, the creator of iconic musical Rent, as he approaches his thirties and worries he may have made a mistake by pursuing a career in the arts. His co-stars include Vanessa Hudgens, Alexandra Shipp, Bradley Whitford, and Joel Grey.

Larson first performed Tick, Tick... Boom! as a solo piece in 1990. After his death in 1996, it was revamped as a three-person musical and premiered off-Broadway in 2001.

Miranda has previously spoken about his personal connection with Larson's material. "Tick, Tick... Boom! is a corner of the world I know from every angle," he told EW. "I know what it's like to be a struggling songwriter. I know what it is to be in your 20s writing that one musical, what it's like to be in New York with a bunch of friends with artistic dreams and then watch them drop off one by one, to real life while you're still hanging on."

He added: "It's a story of doubling down on your craft in the face of impossible odds, which is not unique to musical theater - it's the struggle of any artist trying to make a living doing the thing they love."

Tick, Tick... Boom! is due to premiere on Netflix in the fall. Bring it on.
