It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Charlie Hunnam. And, here he is now, starring in the forthcoming series Shantaram, reports ComingSoon.net.
If you aren’t familiar with the word “Shantaram,” it’s Hindu for “man of God’s peace.”
Hunnam plays a fugitive on the run, making his escape to Bombay, India. It’s there that he tries for a fresh start and the people he meets call him Shantaram versus his actual name, Lin.
While he’s avoiding trouble and looking for redemption, he does have some time to stop and flirt. You can see what we mean by that in the newly released trailer:

The official synopsis helps fill in the blanks: “The series follows a fugitive named Lin Ford (Hunnam) looking to get lost in vibrant and chaotic 1980s Bombay. After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla (Antonia Desplat), Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it.”
The series is an adaptation of Gregory David Roberts’ 2003 novel. If you’d like to get a head start on the series, this Seattle Times review of the book might do the trick.
It's not clear if Lin is deserved of his nickname, but we shall see when the series premieres over on Apple TV+ on October 14.
