If you're feeling in need of some festive cheer, you're in luck: the first trailer for upcoming holiday movie A Boy Called Christmas is here.

Adapted from Matt Haig's book of the same name, the movie's cast is led by Dame Maggie Smith, Jim Broadbent, Kristen Wiig, and child actor Henry Lawfull, all of whom appear in the trailer.

Lawfull stars as Nikolas, a little boy who sets out on an expedition to the snowy north in pursuit of his father. The trailer hints at further plot developments, and features suitably twinkly narration from Smith.

Directed by Gil Kenan, who co-wrote the screenplay with The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel's Ol Parker, the movie's cast also includes Sally Hawkins, Toby Jones, Michiel Huisman, and Zoe Colletti.

Meanwhile, it's recently been announced that Stephen Merchant has been cast in a voice role as a "witty" mouse named Miika. Director Kenan told Empire: "First of all, there’s nothing better than the world’s tallest man playing the absolute smallest character I’ve ever put on screen. But also with Stephen there is a razor-sharp wit and intelligence and confidence that the first time you hear it coming out of Miika’s little mouth cements him as an unforgettable character."

A Boy Called Christmas is due to arrive in theaters in 2021. In the meantime, you can binge on holiday films with AMC's "Best Christmas Ever," and get further into the Christmas spirit with some festive British traditions!
