If you appreciate Emily Blunt in action heroine mode, you'll probably enjoy the trailer for her upcoming series The English.
It shows Blunt's character, aristocratic Englishwoman Cornelia Locke, riding a horse across the American West joined by Chaske Spencer's Eli Whipp, a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout. The series is set in 1890 and the terrain they're crossing is definitely treacherous.
"There's just something about this country," Blunt's character says ominously at the start of the trailer. "I sometimes wonder whether there's horror in us all."
We know from plot teasers released by the BBC last month that their characters come together to travel to the same destination, the new town of Hoxem, Wyoming. However, they're both unaware that their personal histories are intertwined in some way.
Blunt is also an executive producer on the series, which marks her first TV role since 2006's Gideon's Daughter (that is, apart from a 2009 guest spot on The Simpsons). The English is written and directed by Hugo Blick (Black Earth Rising, Sensitive Skin) and counts Ciarán Hinds, Toby Jones and Rafe Spall among its supporting cast members.
It will debut on Prime Video in the U.S. and BBC One in the U.K. in November, but will be shown about a month earlier at the London Film Festival. So, look out for early reviews at the start of October.
