The 94th Academy Awards ceremony took place over the weekend, and we had the chance to visit the Winners Room. It was a nice opportunity to put a spotlight on the women who were recognized for their work.
Taking a step behind-the-scenes, we had a chance to catch-up with Jane Campion, Jessica Chastain, Ariana DeBose, Billie Ellish, and Siân Heder, who gave brief speeches, expressing their views.

Here are snippets from the above clip:
Campion, who won Best Director, kicks things off, saying, “I am very proud to have won tonight, for my film and my crew and my cast,” referring to Power of the Dog.
From there, Chastain (Best Actress) gives credit to Tammy Faye Bakker, who she portrayed in The Eyes of Tammy Faye, saying, “It rights a misjustice, it reexamines a life…”
DeBose (Best Supporting Actress), who stars in West Side Story, paid tribute to the LGBTQ community, saying, “I am an openly queer woman of color… I think that just proves that there’s space. There’s space for us.”
Eilish (Best Original Song) talks about stepping into the Bond franchise, saying, “I wanted to pay my respects to every aspect of Bond. I’m from the U.S. I’m American. I didn’t want to take away from anything.”
And, finally, Heder (Best Adapted Screenplay) talks about making CODA, saying, “This was a case of really knowing how a story should be told — deep in my heart and my gut. And knowing that I’d rather see the movie die and never get made, than get made the wrong way.”
Do you find their wins and their words inspiring?
