Gary Oldman's not-so-polished spy Jackson Lamb is back in the trailer for season two of Slow Horses.
When his co-worker Louisa (Rosalind Eleazar) reports that an ex-service agent has been found dead due to heart failure, noting that the agent "was in his sixties, smoked, [and] drank," Oldman's character quips: "Well, I do all that. Look at me – I'm in my prime."
The trailer also includes fresh glimpses of Kristin Scott Thomas's character Diana Taverner, a very senior figure at MI5, plus Jack Lowden's young and ambitious agent River Cartwright.
The first season of Slow Horses premiered in April. Based on Mick Herron's novel, it centers on a group of disgraced or out-of-favor spies – the so-called "slow horses" – working at Slough House, a fictional dumping ground for unpopular agents.
Apple's plot synopsis teases: "In season two, long-buried Cold War secrets emerge which threaten to bring carnage to the streets of London. When a liaison with Russian villains takes a fatal turn, our hapless heroes must overcome their individual failings and raise their spy game in a race to prevent a catastrophic incident."
Other cast members confirmed for the new season include Jonathan Pryce, Saskia Reeves, Dustin Demri-Burns, Christopher Chung, Freddie Fox, Chris Reilly, Samuel West, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, and Kadiff Kirwan.
Season two is due to premiere on December 2, and Apple has already ordered two further seasons, so we can definitely look forward to seeing more of Jackson Lamb.
