Gary Oldman is set to star in the forthcoming series Slow Horses, which premieres on April 4. The series revolves around MI5 leader, Jackson Lamb, portrayed by Oldman.
The series is based on Mick Herron’s 2020 spy novel by the same name. Lamb oversees a group of agents, who have been assembled as a form of demotion. While they may be under his guidance begrudgingly, Lamb is the man in charge, described as “brilliant” and “frequently furious.”
In an interview with the Radio Times, Oldman describes his character in his own words, saying, “He's rude and obnoxious to everyone around him, but he was a great agent and incredibly smart."

Hmm, the word that stands out to us most is “was.” Is he still a great agent? The answer to that is pending, which hopefully will be resolved as the six-part series rolls out.
In a new featurette clip, Oldman explains what not to expect, saying, “This is not casinos, champagne, and Aston Martins. It's not James Bond.
Okay, now that we know what it’s not, we have a starting point. You can watch Oldman’s entire rundown over at RadioTimes.
We kind of love how Oldman describes the team and how they all came together, saying, “The thing they have in common is that they have f-d up.” That's one way to put it. Sometimes, the direct approach is the best approach. But as his description continues, there's hope for the downgraded MI5 agents, with Oldman saying, “These misfits really actually come together as a team and they’re not actually so useless.”
We believe in this group, and that they can get to where they want to be.
Slow Horses kicks off on April 4 over at Apple TV+.
