We know Hugh Bonneville as the honorable Lord Grantham in Downton Abbey, but for his latest movie role in I Came By, he seems to have crossed over to the dark side.
The trailer for the London-set thriller shows Bonneville's high court judge being targeted by a young graffiti artist played by George MacKay (1917, Captain Fantastic). Once MacKay's character Toby breaks into the judge's basement, he stumbles upon some kind of sinister secret. Netflix's plot synopsis for the movie teases that at this point, Toby "and his loved ones are dragged into a deadly game of cat and mouse." Color us very intrigued indeed.
I Came By also stars Kelly Macdonald (Line of Duty, Boardwalk Empire), whom we catch a few glimpses of in the trailer. It's directed and co-written by Babak Anvari, whose previous credits include Wounds and Under the Shadow, and premieres August 19 on Netflix.
It's Bonneville's second movie of the summer after Downton Abbey: A New Era. Ahead of its premiere, Anglophenia's Sharon Carpenter spoke to Bonneville and co-stars Michelle Dockery and Elizabeth McGovern about precisely what this "new era" involves.
Will you be making some time for I Came By?
