Karen Gillan has finished filming the Judd Apatow movie The Bubble. And, she seems to be super busy, with another new movie coming out, entitled Dual.
The premise of the story starts off grim. Gillan’s character, Sarah, is dying. As a last-ditch effort, she turns to an organization that makes clones. But, when she finds out she's going to survive her illness, she can’t undo the order she’s placed. Instead, there’s a court-mandated duel to the death.
In the below trailer, we hear Gillan on the phone say, “Hi. I’m currently dying. And I would like to schedule a consultation.” That’s where the story kicks off and it goes from there:
The duel is in a year’s time. So, with that said, the two have to work around each other. The clone is stepping into Sarah’s life, which she understandably does not appreciate. We see her in the clip kissing Sarah's love interest. He says to Sarah, “Even if I can’t be with her, I don’t want to be with you.” Ouch.
The clone says to Sarah, “I think I’m a size smaller than you.” This gets Sarah’s attention, with her saying, “I’m going to kill her.” Apparently, Sarah has hit her limit.
Sarah isn’t going at it alone, she has a trainer to get her ready for combat, played by Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad). He doesn’t just get her physically fit, but mentally fit too, saying, “Do you want to live? I don’t believe you.” Sarah gets it together and takes the training seriously: “I find guns are overused and boring.” That’s where the trainer steps in, advising her, “If it’s a matter of life and death, boring is okay.” Those are some very sound words.
While the story starts off morbid, it does strike us as fun and funny as it progresses.
You can look for Dual on April 15.
