WATCH: Liam Neeson Is Back in Action in 'Honest Thief' Trailer

An honest thief? Is Liam Neeson playing a modern-day Robin Hood? Not really, but that is a fun idea.

He is in fact playing a reformed bank robber. In the new trailer for his action flick, called Honest Thief, his character narrates what he's been up to of late, saying, "I've robbed twelve banks in seven states. I have a little more than nine million dollars in cash. And no one knows who I am."

Hmm, he doesn't sound all that reformed... at least, not yet. In the scene that immediately follows his not-so-humble self-introduction, he calls the FBI and says, "I want to turn myself in." According to the description, he has a love interest (Kate Walsh) and would like to do the right thing by her.

He tries to negotiate a reduced sentence with the authorities, so he can be with her and be honest about his past. That sounds like a deal the FBI can work with. Except, the two agents who come to collect the cash get a little greedy:

When the rogue FBI agents' supervisor walks in on their deceitful ways, he is shot and killed in the scuffle. Now Neeson's character is on the run, as he's wanted as the suspected killer.

It would not be a Liam Neeson action flick without a very memorable line, and we've already gotten one in the trailer, "Agent Nivans, I'm coming for you." Nivans is played by Jai Courtney (Suicide Squad).

If this is going to take a page out of the Taken franchise, Agent Nivans' days are numbered.

Grey's Anatomy's Kate Walsh joins Neeson on this thrill ride, which is set to release on October 9.

What do you think of this new pairing?
