The forthcoming Sky series The Lazarus Project is a hybrid of two of our favorite genres, mixing together thriller and time travel. You can look for Paapa Essiedu in the lead, reports Radio Times.
You may know Essiedu from the AMC series Gangs of London as Alexander Dumani. And now here he is again, taking on another titular role. Essiedu is set to portray a man named George, who is part of a secret organization that has the ability to turn back time. According to the description, they do so when the world is about to come to an end.
George wakes up three months prior to when he had gone to sleep. So, does that mean the world will come to an end in three months? We’re not mathematicians, but that seems to be the case. We can imagine, that's quite unnerving to wake up to.
The eight-part series follows George as he races against time. The new clip provides a glimpse of what to expect:

According to the synopsis, George is faced with a tough decision: "When a freak accident harms someone close to George. Lazarus won’t let him turn back time to undo it – unless there is the threat of global extinction. Now George must choose to stay loyal or go rogue, as he is faced with the question: if you had the power to rewrite your past, what would you sacrifice to do it?"
Time travel is tricky. In some scenarios, the past is the past and the outcome is unavoidable. But, when it comes to fiction, it’s really up to the writers.
We shall see what the end result is when The Lazarus Project premieres in June via Sky. A U.S. release date is still to come.
