Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) stars as French actor Hervé Villechaize in HBO's made-for-TV biopic My Dinner with Hervé, premiering on October 20. Villechaize is best known for his role as Tattoo in the series Fantasy Island, which ran from 1977-1984.

Writer and director Sacha Gervasi has based the TV movie on his own experience with Villechaize, having interviewed him back in 1993. Sadly, just days later, Villechaize killed himself. Jamie Dornan (The Fall) takes on the interviewer role, playing a journalist called Danny Tate.

In the just-released trailer for My Dinner with Hervé, we hear snippets of the interview. Dornan's Tate asks the 50-year-old actor, "Tell me what it felt like? To be famous! To have made it!" Villechaize responds, "Being famous is like being drunk. Except the whole world is drunk with you."

That's an interesting analogy, but what happens when you stop being famous? The film documents the high and low points in Villechaize's life, with the first look trailer giving insight as what led up to his final days:

The film also stars Andy Garcia as Ricardo Montalbano, the host of the island featured in the TV series, who helped guests' dreams come true.

Dinklage, who also spent years developing the film with his friend Gervasi, talked to The New York Times back in 2012 about the passion project, saying, "Sacha was a journalist, sitting here like we are now. After he killed himself, Sacha realized Hervé’s interview was a suicide note."

Gervasi also directed 2012's Hitchcock, starring Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren.

Dinklage returns as Tyrion Lannister in the final season of Game of Thrones in 2019.
