You may be familiar with Bong Joon Ho’s 2019 breakout hit Parasite. The writer-director is at it again, with a new Sci-Fi thriller in the works, entitled Mickey 17, reports Empire. He’s off to a strong start, recruiting Anglo favorite Robert Pattinson to take the lead.
Pattinson stars in the title role as Mickey. Mickey is part of an expedition team whose mission is to colonize a world covered in ice. He’s referred to as “an Expendable,” with him being considered a disposable employee. He’s given assignments that are so dangerous, they are deadly.
But, according to the description, if Mickey is a goner, another iteration regenerates. This Mickey retains most of his memories. They key word being “most.” We have a feeling the new Mickey may not remember dying and why.
A teaser clip introduces us to Pattinson as Mickey No. 1:

The movie is based on Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel Mickey7. We like how it went from Mickey7 to Mickey 17. Possibly, going from a book to a feature film they needed more Mickeys? We shall see when the movie comes out, with a predicted premiere in 2024.
Sci-Fi and thrillers are two of our favorite genres. Robert Pattinson with his shirt off is an added bonus.
