A charming video of Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire talking with Camilla, Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, has gone viral on TikTok.
Lancashire met the Queen Consort during a reception at Buckingham Palace for International Women's Day yesterday (March 8), and the clip shows them discussing the hit crime drama series.
"Well, there's no season four – it's all done," Lancashire tells the Queen Consort after greeting her with a gracious curtsey. "It's the right thing to do; we just can't keep doing it. It's an emotional assault course. To be honest, it would kill me."
After chatting a little more about Lancashire's future projects, Lancashire thanks the Queen Consort for her kind words about Happy Valley, saying: "I'm amazed you found time to watch." You can watch the full video here.
Happy Valley's third and final season is due to premiere on BBC America, AMC+, and Acorn TV in May.
Lancashire reprises her iconic role as Sergeant Catherine Cawood, joined by Siobhan Finneran as her sister Clare, Rhys Connah as her grandson Ryan, and James Norton as her nemesis, the murderer and sex offender Tommy Lee Royce. The multi-award-winning series written and created by Sally Wainwright is set and filmed in Yorkshire's Calder Valley.
The official plot synopsis for the final season teases: "When Catherine (Sarah Lancashire) discovers the remains of a gangland murder victim in a drained reservoir it sparks a chain of events that unwittingly leads her straight back to Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton).
"Her grandson, Ryan, is now sixteen and still living with Catherine, but he has ideas of his own about what kind of relationship he wants to have with the man Catherine refuses to acknowledge as his father. Still battling the seemingly never-ending problem of drugs in the valley and those who supply them, Catherine is on the cusp of retirement."
In the meantime, you can catch up with seasons one and two of Happy Valley on Acorn TV from Monday, March 13.
