Sir Anthony Hopkins is an actor who can really make us feel something, and the trailer for his new movie Armageddon Time finds him in poignant form.
Written and directed by James Gray (The Lost City of Z, Ad Astra), the film is a coming-of-age tale based on Gray's own upbringing in 1980s New York City. Newcomer Banks Repeta plays Paul, a teenage boy whose life changes when his parents (Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong) transfer him to a more prestigious school.
Hopkins plays a sweet-seeming grandfather who Paul turns to for advice and support. When Paul reveals that some of his new classmates have been using racist language, Hopkins' character recommends that Paul call them out for their cruelty.
The trailer also includes a glimpse of Jessica Chastain, who portrays now-retired U.S. federal judge Maryanne Trump. Chastain told Variety in June that she agreed to shoot her cameo for free provided that her role in the movie was never formally announced.

Armageddon Time opens in theaters October 28. In November, we can also look out for Hopkins in The Son, a prequel to The Father, the 2020 movie for which he won his second Oscar.
