We know what the Thirteenth Doctor is up to: she's traveling through space and time via a Police Box, better known as the TARDIS, saving the world one episode at a time with her friends. And, we've already visited with the Twelfth, Eleventh and Tenth Doctor, so, it's about time we had a catch-up with the Ninth.

Doctor Who is amazing in itself and such a great platform for actors to continue on from, so it makes sense to see where everyone has landed:

1. Christopher Eccleston

In 2005, we saw the return of Doctor Who after a 15-year hiatus, with the last season airing in 1989. Christopher Eccleston led the charge, regenerating into the Ninth Doctor. His run wasn't all that long, just the one season, but he put his stamp on the DW franchise. Following DW, he starred in the TV series Heroes (2007) and The Shadow Line (2011). More recently we saw him in HBO's sci-fi series The Leftovers as Matt Jamison (2015-2017). In 2018, he went the period drama route, starring in King Lear as Oswald. He is joined by an all-star cast, including Anthony Hopkins, Emily Watson, Andrew Scott, Emma Thompson, Tobias Menzies, Jim Broadbent and AMC's very own Florence Pugh (Little Drummer Girl). 

2. John Barrowman

John Barrowman guest-starred in a DW multi-story arch — 12 episodes to be exact — as Captain Jack Harkness. His character was so embraced, that Captain Jack had his own spinoff called Torchwood (2006-2011). In 2010, he starred in five episodes of Desperate Housewives as Patrick Logan. In 2012, he joined the DC Comics family, starring in Arrow as Malcolm Merlyn. He reprised the role in the DC spinoff Legends of Tomorrow from 2016-2017. In 2019, he made the TV movie Glamorous, opposite Brooke Shields. And, if you're up to speed on the current season of DW, you'll know, #JackisBack. Barrowman returned to reprise his time traveler role just this past weekend and you can find the entire episode here. Barrowman was so excited to reprise the role, he told a few people... well, maybe more than a few. We can't blame him, it is just that exciting.

3. Billie Piper

Billie Piper played companion to the Doctor as Rose Tyler. And we saw her carry on this role into the next season, when David Tennant took over the time traveling reigns. One of Piper's most prolific roles was as Belle in the biographical series Secret Diary of a Call Girl (2007-2011). We also saw her in Penny Dreadful (2014-2016) as Lily, coincidentally, also a prostitute. In 2017, she hit the stage, starring in Lorca's Yerma. In 2018, Piper starred in the crime series Collateral, opposite Carey Mulligan. Piper takes on the role of Karen Mars, a key witness in a murder investigation. Just last year, Piper starred in the feature film Eternal Beauty, opposite Sally Hawkins, Penelope Wilton and David Thewlis. She's completed filming on the anti-romcom Rare Beasts, which she wrote, directed and starred in, which will hit theaters on March 20, 2020.

4. Simon Pegg

Before Simon Pegg was Scotty and beaming people up in the Star Trek movies and a tech expert in the Mission Impossible franchise, he played The Editor in DW. We saw him in the episode "The Long Game." Since making his appearance in DW, we've seen Pegg go on to star in Hot Fuzz and Run, Fat Boy, Run, both premiering in 2007. He took the lead in 2008's How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, opposite Kirsten Dunst. More recently, he popped up in 2015's Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens as Unkar Plutt. Also in 2015, he starred in the rom-com Man Up. Last year, he leant his voice to the The Dark Crystal TV series, providing the voice for The Chamberlain. We can look for him in the next installment of Mission Impossible, coming out in 2021.

5. Dame Penelope Wilton

Penelope Wilton was introduced to DW in the episode "Aliens of London" as Harriet Jones, starring in four episodes total. She had a dramatic last appearance in 2008, returning for "The Stolen Earth." Since DW, Wilton joined the now iconic Downton Abbey series as Isobel Crawley, which she portrayed from 2010-2015. We also saw her in the 2016 film adaptation of Roald Dahl's The BFG, starring as The Queen. In 2016, she stepped into the sci-fi genre, starring in Brief Encounters. In 2019, we saw her in the dramedy After Life. And, just last year she returned for the Downton Abbey movie to reprise her role as Cousin Isobel.
